Deny
My dear friend’s home has gone up in flames and there ain’t a damn thing I can do from this place
But he’s strong and he’ll rebuild his home with his own two hands and a heart like a stone
Well he, he’s a better man than me, cause my heart’s full of rage at the leaders in congress who’ve seen all the science we’ve seen, but a campaign needs money so they lie through their teeth, it’s obscene
How dare you deny what’s in front of your eyes?
The world is on fire, smoke darkens the skies
Well it’s the hottest year on record, and last year was too
So if you want to deny the truth, well then we’ll deny you
My dear friend’s town is burned to the ground, 86 dead and more to be found, oh they tried
Tried their best to survive, but the fire moved quick, ate the whole town alive
Oh the smell, and those who lived to tell, had no choice but to sleep in the back of a van like a cell, or some crowded motel, they fled through the fire just to jump into hell, into hell
So how dare you deny what’s in front of your eyes?
The world is on fire, smoke darkens the skies
Well it’s the hottest year on record, and last year was too
So if you want to deny the truth, well then we’ll deny you
This old country has lost its damn mind. A sickness crept in, struck greedy men blind to their sins, they just counted their wins, as their souls turned blacker than the white of their skin
Well I’m, sick and tired of the lies. Negligence is violence to those who come after our time
The earth must survive, and failure to act threatens all of our lives, it’s a crime
So how dare you deny what’s in front of your eyes?
The world is on fire, smoke darkens the skies
Well it’s the hottest year on record, and last year was too
So if you want to deny the truth, well then we’ll deny you
